1. Thanks for Your Prayers & Encouragement - Chad & Kathy Return from Iraq
We are so blessed to have Chad and Kathy return home safely from Iraq. There is nothing like waiting in a hanger throughout the night listening for the plane fly in with your loved ones on board. We drove all day to Ft. Bragg in North Carolina, and then waited all night with the rest of the families to cheer our soldiers' home. We watched video clips of our troop's year service in Iraq. We saw things, heard things, and shared with other families the experiences of the last year. We will be bonded for life. It is a very emotional experience to watch the brave young men and women come marching in to the National Anthem after traveling for 27 hours to make it home to the United States of America. We all dreamed of this day and prayed for this day to come. Our son called on Friday morning to tell us he had five more hours to go in the Army. He had mixed feelings on what was positive about the five years he had served. I (Susan) wanted to make sure the Army documented his permanent hearing loss from the gun battle he was in, his knee injury and back injury. His Dad, Phil, wanted to encourage Chad to think of the positive experiences and growth he gained during these five years. We are thankful he called us before his final meeting with his Commander. He needed to hear these things from his Dad. We all need to be reminded what positive comes out of our experiences in life. We all need encouragement from our loved ones, peers, and leaders in our organizations that we are a part - work, school, social, and community. Thank you to all of you for your encouragement during Chad and Kathy's deployment. Kathy will still be serving in the Army and will be stationed at Ft. Knox in Kentucky. We are so happy to have them only three hours away. Chad will be pursuing life as a civilian. Please continue to keep them in your thoughts as they readjust to every day life. They are doing extremely well. They are happy and healthy. They want to also thank everyone for the prayers, care packages, cards, and emails that were sent to them. It meant so much to them for all the encouragement. 3 Suggested Reading - What else is there but what Oprah is Suggesting…..
